A/C Compressor not cycling

My compressor clutch does not cycle. It just keeps running. The A/C is very cold though. Could I be low on refrigerent or could it be another problem. It's a 96 with R134a by the way.

If you're keeping decent pressure it shouldn't cycle AFAIK.

It will cycle on and off if your pressure is low until you get enough refrigerant to maintain PSI on the low side.

You can try checking the cycle switch with a jumper wire from the battery. But usually when it goes out, the A/C will blow hot air. IF you unplug the switch, the compressor should not run.

IF changing the switch doesn't help, you may have a problem with the compressor or wiring itself.
