I have a 1996 EB with a stock "Quad Shocks" set-up on the Front...i.e. 2 shocks for each front wheel. Upon trying to replace my shocks this weekend, I snapped the studs for the Lower Mounting stud on the Front - Front shocks. It appears to be a "smooth" stud that threads into the bracket, and a threaded stud that threads into the "smooth" stud.

I'm sure breakage is common. Is there a replace kit/procedure out there? Or do I just drill out the old and weld in a new bolt?

I replaced the Front - Rears without in major problems.

Any tips or experience is appreciated.

I know what you are talking about, and think the lower shock stud is a poor design. I have not found a kit/deal to fix it, but would suggest fabricating a stronger, 2-sided mount similar to that on the rear shocks.

Two metal tabs, one one either side of the shock mount. On the rear axle, the tabs are welded to the axle housing, with a piece of flat metal connecting them. THis supports the shock eye and bushing on two sides, rather than all of the force being exerted on one side only like the front shock stud. Really all you would need to beef up the front is weld a small tab for the end of that stud to go thru, using a bolt in place of that factory stud. There is already a tab there that the stud is mounted onto, prolly where it broke off on your truck.
