I bought this bronco on ebay several months ago and Ive been working on it ever since. The current issue is the 4x4 engage motor, Im pretty sure it needs replaced. A mechanic at the dealership told me to tap the motor with a small hammer , when I did both of the lights on the 4x4 switch lit up and the motor made a noise but still didnt engage the 4wd. I can hear a click in the pass side dash area when I push the 4x4 button, I guess there is a relay there. When I removed the bolts the motor wouldnt come out of the transfer case as if it may be under a load. I hope I wont have to remove the transfer case just to replace the motor ! I can get a motor from NAPA for $169 if anybody knows of a cheaper one Id apreciate it , junkyards want $100 - $150

Something I have found when I am replacing a part is to have the new one in hand and compare it to the old one. This will also help when removing the old one as you can see where hidden bolts / clips may be.

This may help you to pull yours out.

Also try backing the truck up 10 feet to be sure everything is released.
