Hey Folks:

I have a 93 with the 351 efi. It starts and runs fine until I drive it 30 mins or so. When I stop at a light it dies and seems to be starving for fuel. Could a fuel pump have low pressure when hot? Could a fuel filter be the issue? Could it be electrical? I am lost....

Thanks

Gene

The fuel filter is the first thing I would change, if it's been over 20K miles since the last time it was changed. That may not be the main problem, but may contribute to it. If you can check/have checked the fuel pressure, that may tell you the condition of the pumps. There is one inside the gas tank, and one along the driver's-side frame rail under the door. There is also a regulator inline with the filter and external pump. If that is clogged up or leaking, it can cause trouble starting. A Haynes or Chilton repair manual helps to find the problem, too.

Another thing I would check is to make sure your fuel line is not touching anything that gets hot, it will cause the fuel to atomize in the line and give you a kind of vapor lock

just my 2 cents

a similar thing would happen to a friend of mine who swapped a bowtie 350 into an FJ80. his main fuel filter ended up being too close to the headers, and it would atomize the fuel too soon and **** the motor. as soon as your poured water on the filter, it would start right back up. so check to see if any of your fuel lines are near something hot
