I have a 93 bronco xlt. When I put either the left or right blinkers on both of them go on including the third brake light. The fronts work fine. I have checked the bulbs and the fuses they are fine. Any ideas? Ray

Welcome to the Zone :D . Flaky problems are generally caused by bad grounds. Check the grounding for the rear lights, ground G100 shown at location F7 on the attached diagram. It is also possible that there is a break in the wire that runs from the tail lights to G100, most likely near the lights.

Good luck,

sounds to me like you've got some crossed wires somewhere, I would have a good look at all the your wiring and connections at or before the wires split for the 3rd brake light. if it was grounding before the bulbs then they wouldnt come on as far as I can figure, so instead of shorting out somewhere they are each powering the other 2 circuits.

The problem could be a back circuit through the high stop light which would cause all three to come on when the blinker is working just as it does when the brake pedal is pressed, A good suspect for the open ground path is the connector on the left side of the rear cross member visible by looking under the bumper. The grounds for the rear lights tie together and then go through the connector and from there to the front of the truck to ground G100. If that path is open they will back circuit through the multi function switch to Ground G201.
