I just bought it a few days ago and the cables are corroded about 4 inches back from the battery. I have not owned a ford product in about 20 years and an a bit confused on the way it is setup. The dealer has no idea on what cable goes in the Bronco but that is the norm for the local Ford shop.

From the Positive post the cable goes to both the starter and the starter solinoid. From the solinoid ther is also a smaller red wire running down towards the starter.

From the negative post the cable goes to both the block and the body.

I have been to every auto parts store in town and am unable to find cables that are setup this way. I do not like using the clamp down universal ends if I can avoid doing so.

Does anyone have a diagram or can let me know if this is even the correct setup for the cables? Possibly give me some ideas on what mix of cables I really need to do this right.

I would appreciate any help. advice or pictures that you can provide.

Thanks

Dave

Welcome to the Zone >

I can't be speciffic since you didn't say what year truck you have, but here is a diagram of the starting circuit which is good for 80 - 86. I have never seen the cable setup you describe. Basically there should be a red cable from the battery (+) to the solinoid left side stud. A cable from the solinoid right side stud to the starter. The small wire from the center small post goes to the key switch. From the battery (-) to the engine block. Then from the engine block a strap to the chassis. You should also have a cable from the alternator to the left solinoid stud. You can get cables pre made from a place like Auto Zone.

You might want to add your truck vitals to your signature.

Good luck,

:)>-

It is a 1992. I did not add that to the message since it was the Topic name. I have adjusted the sig and hopefully it works now.

I looked at the diagram and it ir not the same as the way mine is setup. But I do thank you for the help. I was goofing around on Ebay and after playing with different word combinations I think I found the cable I need. I bid on it and if I win it I will find out for sure.

Thanks

David
