Actually it isn't that hard, most of the work is done thru the accesss panel. It is easiest to do with the glass about 1/2 way up so you can get at the nuts that hold the brackets on the glass. An alternative it to remove the rivits that hold the galss to the brackets, (drift punch to drive the center pin from each rivit and then drilling out the rivit). However if the new piece already has the brackets rivited to the bottom of the glass, remove the nuts and bolts, ( if I remember right there are two on each bracket). You need to remove the rubber bumpers on each side at the top of the tail gate. Also if the bracket is on the window It will be easier if you remove the weather strip. Just be careful not to bend it up or have some new srtipping to replace it with, which isn't a bad idea either.

Good luck,

:)>-

Thanks SeaBronc thats good to know.

That's the kind of stuff that helps make the job go a bit better.

Now to figure out how to fix the one gate latch, it wont latch and stay shut on one side so the window safty switch would not close untill you lean on the door and turn the key

Thanks again...........................JC

You may have to replace the latch stud. However, it is adjustable and that may be all you need to do. LOosen it with torx and it will move.

God luck,

I thought I would tag along on this one if you don't mind.

I have the opposite problem, I can't get my tailgate open or the window down.

Do you have to have the tailgate open to adjust the sensor?

Thanks,

Chris

I was talking about adjusting the latch stud so the tailgate closes tight and operates the switch in the latch. The switch is not adjustable. You may have the same problem or a completely different one. If you push against the driver side of the tailgate and that causes it to work then adjust the latch stud on the quarter panel. If not you have some sort of electrical problem.

Actually it is better to start your own thred in the forum. That way you get notified when someone poats a response to your question. If the latch isn't the problem, post a new thread under tech support and we will be glad to look at the possible causes. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
