I have a 1990 5.0 302 xlt with malfunctioning gauges, how would you remove the gauge cluster to replace the gauges and face?

It's not that hard

1:) Remove Headlight and Windshield Wiper Knobs.

2:) Gently Pop out the panel where the knobs were, you need access to the screws behind the panel in order to remove the instrument cluster trim panel. You do not need to remove the tailgate switch, just let the panel hang.

3:) Pop out the other lower panel, and if you have electronic shift 4x4, disconnect the harness from the switch.

4:) Now this gets a little tough, look for any and all screws holding the trim panel in place. Remove the screws and keep for later.

5:) Now, remove the trim panel, and you can see the screws that hold the instrument cluster in. Remove the screws.

6:) Disconnect any wires and cables connected to the cluster.

7:) Your done, take the directions in reverse for installation.

Hope that helps, get a Haynes Manual for the bronco, that's how I found out.

I agree, there is a main ground cable bolted to the side or the top of the engine, on mine (1988) it is grounded to the intake manifold support bracket on the exhaust manifold.

My engine was rebuilt, so it was put there, but I am certain that your cable does not ground there.

mbtech is right, it could be the problem...

What gauges are malfunctioning? By malfunctioning what are the symptoms, no indication at all, read lowe, etc.? Could it be the fuel, oil pressure and engine temperature?
