I have a problem with my 89 Bronco. 5.0L auto OD. Problem is it will not start when in the morning when the temperature is below 55F. I can get it to start with starting fluid when it is around 55-45F, much below that and the bronco will not start. If I do get it to start, it will usually stay running, sometime it will die after a few seconds, then I can ususally restart it with no starting fluid and it will stay running. After I get it to start once int he morning, I can start it all day with no issues.

The codes I get when i checked them were 21 and 24, Intake temp sensor out of range and coolant temp sensor out of range. Replaced both sensors, no different, still won't start. Do I need to disconnect the battery and clear the codes?

I have replaced the distributor, cap rotor, TFI module, coil, and plugs (another issue about a month earlier).

I have checked fuel pressure during cranking, it is around 40 psi. When the car starts and runs it drops to around 30.

can anyone help? This is my plow truck, so it needs to start in the cold...thanks

ECT bad, engine not warmed up , bad thermostat, low coolant.

KOER test is less than 50 deg or greater than 250 degrees Fahrenheit

Was engine warmed-up prior to KOER Portion?

Check connector/harness

-------------

24 Air Charge Temperature (ACT). (ACT). ACT sensor out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts

Info & pic, engine runs too rich and you have blowby, in a 92 Source: by Richard C (Bigric, Money Pit)

Did the old sensor look like that?

Check connector/harness condition

thanks miesk5, but my problem is before the engine starts, so its a KOEO test. would the coolant level have any effect on a KOEO situation?

Yes the iats looked somewhat like that but I swapped the iats and the cts for new ones and it still will not start below 55F ambient temp without starting fluid and below 45F it has trouble starting at all.
