Hey Emti,

Welcome to the Zone.

Your symptoms are classic of ignition module heat failure.

Before you just go and replace it, check as to why the Bronc won't start. No spark?...or...No fuel?

No spark = the ign. module in most cases. If It's no fuel, more diagnosis is needed. No fuel= I have found the fuel pump relay, inertia switch, or fuel pump, and even percolation in the fuel line from heat from an exhaust leak.

Good Luck

I have an 87 B-Co, and experienced similar problems. After driving for a while the engine would just die. Turns out it was my ignition coil. If your coil is the original coil, especially if its a canister coil, I would suggest replacing it ASAP. If it is a canister coil, MSD makes a canister coil that works with the factory "horseshoe" connector. I first replaced the old coil with a replacement part from autozone, and my B-Co stopped dying abruptly. After that I replaced with the MSD coil and saw a much better improvement.
