Hello,

Are you asking if the front clip and bumper from an 88 will fit on a 93? Are you also asking if you can mount a winch mount bumper to the front?

If so:

1.There were some changes to the front end in 1992 including a different grill and headlights. The turn signal lights were placed under the headlights and wrapped around the side. So, if you are changing the fenders as well, perhaps it will fit.

2. You can find all kinds of winch mount bumpers. If you like Ramsey winches, check out their website. The bumper is expensive, and so are their winches...but they are top of the line stuff.

3. 87-91 ran the same bumper and mounts. It changed in 92. Without modification, I don't know how you'd mount the factory bumper.

The way the 92 and up bumper mounts is kinda cheesy they have a peice of 3/16 angle iron about 4 inches long welded to the inside of the frame just past the crush zones on both sides , The bumper then has a bracket in an L shape that goes back to the angle iron and bolts on . Not very strong at all . The 91 and earlier had a brackt on the bumper that actually followed the contour of the frame horns and attached that way . When I did my 89 I used a warn enforcer bumper for a 92 and up I also had one for 91 and earlier already on another truck so I could see all the differences . Heres where your goona run into trouble if you use the older bumper on the newer front end , for the enforcer bumpers the only thing different is the mount kit which one follows the frame horns and the other mounts to that 3/16 angle the outer skin is the same and the real noticeable difference is the plastic trim peices on the ends that finish the body lines . I ended up ordering the 92 and up ones at $65 each to make it look right . How I mounted it was to take some 3/8 angle and cut it the height of the frame plus 1/2 inch that way when I put it against the frame I had a good edge to weld too . I then dilled the holes in my 3/8 angle to mount to the bumper mount and bolted them together . I then hung the bumper up in front of the truck and got it all lined up then tack welded the angle in place on the frame . Then unbolted the bumper and final welded the brackets in place and painted . Reinstall the bumper and there ya go stronger than factory . Im sure similar process with other types of bumpers . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

thats what i needed to know thanx any idea what the other differences are for example will the hood and cowl work on the 88 without the rest (so can get that out of my garage) or is it pretty much all or none

also are there any differances between the doors (all 3) between the 2 body styles?

The front clip is pretty much an all or none even the windshield cowl peice that goes between the windshield and the hood must be replaced . The core support is a must also . So yeah all or non . As for the doors you can take them off an 86 and bolt them on a 96 so yeah they will fit but heres the differences 1980 to 1992 they used the old hoop style mirror mid 92 and up they use the sport mirror type you see on everything 92 and up in the truck line . 1980 to 1990 or so the internals of the door are wire rods after that the interior handle pulls a cable that often breaks and is a pain in the ass . Somewhere in there there were models that didnt have a vent window so it was just one big piece of glass but as for the body lines yes all the same along with the cabs 1980 to 1996 are all interchangable just the interior changed really but you can take a 96 dash and interior and bolt it right in a 1980 cab if you wanted too . LOL and they say ford never made anything that interchanged them chevy boys are just ****** they have to put a body lift on there truck to use a 2 wheel drive cab on a 4X4 :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Your not joking about the damn cable type door actuators replaced them with the old type when first got the truck and found why the passenger door would not open

That's pretty much what I plan on doing is taking most of the 93 and putting it on the 88 as the tires lift and over all suspension and frame are a lot better and today I may have found 2 more on a 86 and one another 93 thru coworkers father moving down south and not wanting the gas hogs now that he retired

One thing I have to give Chevy is the heads and intake from a 305 bolt right onto a 350 giving you the best of both between mileage and backbone had that setup on a few cars I owned and it worked great only wish the same was true between the 5.0 and 5.8 as outside of the rod knock my 93 has a much better runner and the e4od in it is 1000 times better than the c-6 in the 88 if only the exhaust manifolds would swap my truck could pass inspection without having to do it myself when the boss ain't in
