hey guys i am doing a efi to carb swap and have figured every thing out except what i can use as a throttle cable. i have read every article i can find about this swap and have had no luck. I think i can use a cable out of an 83 is this possible, and if so what would i use as a bracket to mount the cable to.. also this is a 302, and i am using a edelbrock 4brl carb.. any help with this specific situation would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys!!

I'd probably go to a local friendly auto parts recycler and get the bracket off an 87 with a 351 4bbl. It should mount the same on your 302 as the 351, they bolt to the back of the intake,

Good luck,

hey thanks seabronc, i went to the local yank apart, and unfortunetly they only had EFI broncos/f150s with 5.0s and 5.8s, but i did find a couple F150s/Broncos with inline six motors that were carborated. so i pulled the throttle cable and bracket off an inline 6 engine the cable was about 10 inches shorter than the cable that i had so as a temp it was easyer to manipulate. The bracket originally on the Inline 6 had two bolts holting it to the head, I bolted it to my intake manifold with one bolt, and had to grind a bit of the mounting surface off the bracket so it would clear my valve cover. probably not the best route but for right now my rat rod ways will have to sufice.. i am still going to look for a shorter throttle cable so i dont have to loop it to take up slack..

p.s. while at the yank apart i found a nice thick radiator out of a 96 bronco that fit right into my 88 and should give me much more cooling since my original radiator was onlw 1 inch thick and the one out of the 96 is close to 3 inches thick!! whoo probably the best $40 i have spent yet on this beast
