If you have the BW1356 case... you just scrounge the bone yards for the manual shifter, and linkage. If you look at a manual 1356 case, it is setup for the electic motor for "shift on the fly", and the "Shift on the fly" case has the Manual Linkage connections, But if you swap to maual shift, you have to switch to manual hubs.

True the cases do shar some of the same casting provisions but I have been into both of them and alot of the guts are not interchangable. The entire shifting mechanism is different . And the manual ones are not all the same either some early 80,s had an aluminum new process 203 which I have 2 of them if anyone needs parts and most of them had the borg and warner T case but they are not all the same either . I know this from actual hands on not a reference somewhere . 1980 to 1986 has a different style case the 4x4 switch is on the backside of the case and the output shaft is 30 spline which sucks if your trying to put an older case in a newer bronco because the newer ones 91 up have a bolt on ****** style yoke and I have yet to be able to find one of these yokes in 30 spline. All the newer cases 87 to 96 are a 31 spline output shaft . There is also a difference in the shifter linkage length the older ones are shorter by about a 1/2 inch . I was trying to put a 84 1356 in a 91 bronco and after I had lengthened the shifter arm I found out that I couldnt get a yaok that would bolt up to the ****** style double cv driveshaft I had just spent $350 on having rebuilt so I ended up rebuilding the T case that came out of the bronco that had failed because of oil pump failure . I was able to get all the parts off ebay from a place called trasmission exchang company for a real good price . Thy have parts that ford dont even sell anymore . Hope that helps . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
