Do the # of teeth on gears have anything to do with gear ratio?

# of teeth on the ring gear divided by the

number of teeth on the pinion.

Or post up what your axle tag says and we can tell you

As an example, 39 teeth on the ring gear divided by 11 teeth on the pinion gear equals a 3.55:1 gear ratio. That is for alot of the Ford 8.8" rear axles in later Broncos. The metal ID tag should be bolted to the rear cover plate.
