4x4 Problem

Well first off i have a 1989 bronco, full size. Im having a problem with the "little black box" thats under the dashboard on the passanger side. Its the one with a little white button, and when you push it a little red light comes on. Well whenever i hit my 4x4 button on the dash the box clicks but nothing else happens. I replaced my transfer case motor already so thats not the problem. Im thinking its the whole "black box" together because its getting power, but i dont think its sending a signal to the transfer case motor so it can ingage the 4x4. It may be shorted out, but im stumped, and I have no idea what the box is called. Can anyone help me?

Here is a link to a good trouble shooting procedure for your electronic shifter. It's for an F250 but its the same system in your truck. I believe it is the same page refered to above by JSM84.
