hello everyone,

i have a 1982 ford bronco, operates fine in two wheel drive. While at a stop, i engage the locking hubs and place the truck in neutral (while idling) and put it into 4 low the  truck works fine for a while, when the load is increased the 4x4 pops out , the 4x4 reengages when i put it in reverse but pops back out as i drive forward again.

YO ADRIANNNNNNNNNNN!

welcome!

Do you have the NP208 xfer case?

==========

see depictions @ http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/transfer_case_replacements_and_parts/np208.html

"Check tag located on rear of unit for model number"

call them; "Free technical support is available call 702-810-3100, talk to a Drivetrain expert get answers to repair or upgrade questions, also help in automotive diagnostic problems."

======

try rocking Bronco slightly (do not do it a lot bec. tranny fluid temp will go sky=high) by shifting between N to reverse to Drive then back to N

try

no-go

shut eng off in N for both Xfer case and C6

try

also fyi, and don't worry about the years range on this TSB

assuming you have the New Process (NP) 208 Xfer Case.

TSB 83-03-24 TRANSFER CASE - NP208 - RANGE FORK AND NYLON ANNULUS HUB WEAR

LIGHT TRUCKS 1982-83 BRONCO, F150-250 (4x4)

New Process Gear Model 208 Transfer Cases on the above vehicles built after January 19, 1982 have a new range fork and annulus gear assembly design.

The annulus gear hub and web assembly (7B066) can be damaged when the transfer case is operated with low **** fluid levels or with a rough surface finish fork or ****** washer. This will result in transfer case shifting difficulties. The damaged nylon hub will appear to be melted or severely scored and must be replaced. The range fork (7289) and ****** washer (7D484) must also be replaced since surface finish damage or sharp edges created during the prior condition can cause accelerated wear of the new hub and web assembly and result in a repeat service. The transfer case should be refilled with 7 pints of new automatic transmission fluid **** (XT-2-QDX) and checked for any leaks. With the vehicle in a level position, the **** fluid must be up to fill plug opening.

change the t-case fluid and drive on dry road in 4 Hi for a few miles without turing.

then try 4 L
