So, I have a bit of a problem. I tried engageing 4wd for the first time since i bought my bronco, and all that happened was I heard a "click click click click click" coming from what seemed to be the glove compartment. I searched the forum and it seems that that is the relay. The 4wd light on the dash doesn't come on though, and i think it doesn't engage.

Any ideas?

So, after some more playing around, the 4x4 light goes on, but does not actually engage 4wd.

A friend of mine said someting about an actuator, any information?

You may find links to articles on the problematic push-button 4WD in the How-To & Tech Articles forum under "MiesK5HomePage". Here is one link that best describes your problem as I see it:

B-W13-56 troubleshooting and motor repair

Most of the links are about the Ranger or Explorer models, but apply to our fullsize Bronco. If you still have a problem, post up, but this should narrow down the cause. A shop will charge about $400 to replace the motor, so it's worth an attempt to diagnose yourself whether it's the motor or just the relay or an internal problem in the t-case.

you know after you put it into 4x4 regular you have to put it into neutral to engane 4x4low right then to take it off to have to put it in neutral and then revurse to deactivate i had that problem to but you have to have 4x4 regular on first then you have to put it in neutral first and then hit the button or it does nothing
