If I know what I'm talking about you should have the TTB (Twin Traction Beam) front suspension. I don't know alot about it other than it wears out tires fast, has alot of bushing and you can get some bad ass flex out of them if you do it right. @-)

beefy, can you tell where the "whining" noise is coming from, like under the floor or the front axle? If you haven't used 4wd much, may just be a u-joint in the front drive shaft needs grease or is bad. You can crawl under the Bronco while it's parked and NOT running. Grab the driveshaft and see if it feels loose or has any slack in either end. IF that is O.K. or the noise is coming from the front axle, you may have a bad u-joint in there or a bad wheel bearing or hub. IF you get a HAynes or Chilton repair manual, that will help you out with the 4wd system and what to check.

The front driveshaft u-joints are simple to change out. The axle u-joints take a bit more work. Post up what you found out.

Whining noises in 4 Wheel Low are normal. Although quiet, you can still hear it. It's just the way your transfer case is geared in 4 Wheel Low. Remember, if you are trying to drive fast or accelerate hard in 4x4 Low, you can really hear the whining noise, because the transfer case is geared low, and your going beyond the "Top" Speed in 4x4 Low....

A loose u-joint or driveshaft will not whine, it will vibrate really bad.

Hope that helps, I could be wrong....

yep, mine makes the same noise. ive been around 4x4s since i was 9. the whining is normal and the driveshaft would vibrate really bad and make loud groans. well, thats what i was taught. and im 99% sure that is true :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm a senior in High School actually, I just go to a tech school for my automotive class.

He's driving the truck tomorrow, I will have to get a picture to show you, it's really crazy.... The tires he's got on there look like doughnuts meant for a compact car....

It's just the way it's geared in the 4X4 Low...
Hey minnesotabronco96,

I've been around 4X4's since that age, and even though I didn't work on them, I still learned from my dad by watching what he did.

One of my buddies at the tech school has an insane lift on his chevy 1500, it's like a ft and a half lift. He's got 15in. tires on it. Today, he tried backing up and turned too sharply, and that caused the truck to tip over on it's side.... HAHA

i didnt even know stock tires were that small on chevys. thats kind of ******** to have stock 15inch tires. im guessin your friend aint that smart
