351M water pump installation?

My question is, does the flat metal front cover behind the WP also have to be removed to install the WP.
Thanks for any advice.

Sorry I've been busy with Thanksgiving, Grand Kids, and hunting.

It's the front timing cover, and I'm pulling it to check the chain and sprocket while this far in.
I will get some pics.

The front cover seal was broken so I pulled it and replaced the stretched timing chain and sprocket.
When installing the front cover don't use the rubber piece on the oil pan or the gaskets, use Permatex Right Stuff for everything, I tried the gaskets first time and they leaked.
I also used a repair sleeve and new crank seal.
I used some short bolts where the WP goes and let the front cover set overnight, then installed the WP yesterday.
Today I filled it with antifreeze, and fired it up, no leaks.
