Does anyone know if I'm better off rebuilding my engine or just buying a new short block, I was told by the time I have the machine work done and buy all the parts that it would be cheaper to just buy a short block already assembled with a warranty?

Thanks

Rob

i tell ya man i depends on what you want to spend i bought a block from advance auto aka parts america for about 1400 depends on what you want if your short on time like i was go to advance or kragens but if you have it machined out and rebuilt yourself you can have better quality parts put back in i wished i woulda had more time and rebuilt myself ain"t been real inpressed with my engine it runs decent just not as good as a newer rebulit should but it's held up for 2 yrs and got me all the way from NC to Cali in the middle of the summer....

If you do the rebuild you control the quality, got an atk re-man long block assy. Already had the oil pan and timing cover on the new engine. A couple of months later after I put it in I had some oil pressure problems. I drove the bronco to Advanced and the mgr looked under the truck and said they could not do any thing because the sticker on the freeze plugs had turned from white to red. He said the only way they would do that is the motor overheated. The engine has never overheated. The stickers were red when I got the engine out of the crate.

just not an atk re-man just my .02

live and learn then get luvs
