Time for new tires. Got a sideways ***** in my back tire yesturday that's fine if driving forward..but if put in reverse it'd either push it in more, or the ground/reverse motion would rip it out.. Tires are just under 10/32 (for being four years old!) and my spare is brand new so not a good match

Anywho, I really want the duratrac tires from goodyear. I hear great reviews all over the web.. however, size is an issue.

I want a bigger tire. I have an 89 4x4 XLT with 31x10.5R15. The tire is cheaper by $12 for a 33x12.5R15

Looking at my truck I know a 33" would fit.. but turning may be an issue. Also I can fit a 12.5 on my 15" rim right? Right now it's a 10.5...

Yep, they will fit. Only issue I had was the tires rubbing on the radius arm, but thats almost to lock position. Can still cut it hard enough to fit anywhere before they hit. Other than that, no problem.

Just a quick note... ALL TIRE SIZES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL. Go to the websites of the factory and check for TOTAL DIAMETER on 33's ,32's ,etc. ALSO the factory can tell you what width rims are needed.I read in 4x4 Garage magazine that all sizes are not the same I am trying to find the article to post it. Also I read somewhere on the forums for 33s you may need to shim your front bumper out .

OK I found the article from 4x4Garage magazine Spring2010 Article is called BEEFY TIRE TECH written by Cole Quinnell ( I think I have to write this so I don,t get sued for Plagurisim)

This is verbatim

One size isn't actually one size. This is extremely important as you're trying to figure out the biggest tire you can fit on your 4x4 without ripping fenders off when you hit a pothole. Every tire nameplate has an actual size that is different than what the sidewall designation claims. A 35-inch -tall tire might actually be 34 inches tall from one manufacturer, 34.5 inches from another and 35.2 inches from a third. You simply have to look in the catalog or online to view the actual dimensions of the tire you are considering.

Hope this helps.

on my 94 i had to do a tad bit of trimming to the back of the front fenders but they fit nicely after that, i also spaced my bumper but i dont think its neccasary. i have 33/12.50-15s on stock 10 hole wheels, they rub radius arms a little no problem tho
