302 with no power

Hello all i have a 1985 fullsize with a 302. this truck has no pick up it seems to struggle to do 55mph. the other day i tried to pull another bronco out of a hole and my bronco would just bog down it wouldnt spin the tires or anything. put a timing gun on it and it was 5 degrees ********. adjusted the timing and still nothing not sure whats going on has anyone ever had this problem or have and idea of what to do. thanks chris

first off try the basics, tune up - spark plugs, wires ,cap, rotor. Fuel Filter!!! is a big one. then if that doesn't work, try rebuilding your carb, or getting someone to do it for you.

if then nothing, then try a compression test on all of your cylinders.

when you are doing the basics that krafty suggested take the little bit of extra time to check your tranny fluid too. the lack of power may be the early signs of tranny slippage

if the fluid is very dark/brown in colour and has a burnt smell then you may have more problems ahead of you
