I was thinking about doing some engine upgrades and I was just wondering how I could get my 351 to bust out 300 horses. I want on start with headers and true duel exhaust. What other upgrades would help me reach my goal?

Yank your heads get them ported and polished, the easiest way to get that air pump to push more power is to make it easier to push the air out or buy my fav heads gt40's.

for the intake, put a spacer between the upper and lower manifolds, get a larger throttle body and get it a spacer as well. the more air you can **** in the better, and with more air you'll definately need more fuel, as in bigger injectors and fuel pump.

Performance ignition systems cant hurt a bit either. MSD is the best way to go.

then when you get this all done go to your local shop and get them to tune your computer, your should have no problem pulling 300 horses out of it. $-)

The camshaft is the heart of the engine. All the other mods are fine, and are needed to allow a cam upgrade to work. It is the cam that will give it wow! Bring money.

Dang i covered all aspects but the most important. What cam do you recommend for a stock truck that will still bring passable emissions??

The getting a bigger throttle body would definantly **** in more air=more horses, but I've heard that spacers dont do anything to help engine performance (but I personally have never tried them). I would like to upgrade my intake manifold.

Camshaft, **** yeah! It would be sweet to have a bronco with a nice lope to it. But that sounds a little out of my league.

A friend of mine also has a 400m for sale and he offered to sell it to me for $500. He says he has $2000 invested in it. He told me all it needs are the heads resurfaced. I know for sure that this will be enough power, but then I'd have to upgrade my tranny and relocate the engine mounts, which I dont have any experience in the latter. The 400 is from an 85 f-250 or something like that.

Also emmission aren't closely enforced in Ohio as in other states. Thats really not a big deal.

Just saw my first Ford "Lightning"

factory with hot cam, factory headers and special hot intake manifold -- think Rick said 240hp

Rick drives a Ford factory semi to races and car shows and races Mustangs on the drag strip

This Lightning was his brothers truck and Rick did a swap (no rust OK truck)

never heard of this before but there is an example of what the factory set up

a cam is a good idea, just remember even a cam alone still needs a computer upgrade, so if your going to mess with cams (no matter how small) you might as well do everything your pocket book allows...i wish i did, i did a small RV cam idle-4800 and now the computers tweakin all out, it wont idle worth crap and it dies almost every other stop sign
