ok. so i want to put my shifter on the floor. im assuming that if i get on bronco graveyard and buy the kit they have that fits my general year (ex. 1966-74) or what ever it is. it will fit. now if that does, how hard is it to install, becasue i have access to a full garage with a lift and tools but if i can do it with my home tool box in my driveway im gonna take that route. let me know whats up, how long did it take, what tools do i need and so on, and stuff i need to watch out for. thank you for your help.

Hi Wyoming.,

It's a 1 banana job..! Comes with easy to follow directions. It can be done anywhere with just a few tools, & a great improvement over the column shifter. :D/

(2nd. time would take 1/2 day. 1st. time prob. a whole day) (FYIW, 6cyl. a bit longer)

If it hasn't been abused., the stock air filter housing is excellent. Clean with all gaskets in place, it does a great job & clears the hood.

Aft. mkt. units are avail. but need to be real low profile & some have issues interfering with the carb. linkage.

BB is right. It takes a little while but it's not technically challenging. Since you have a 302 and not a 6 cyl. you can buy from JBG. For my 6 cyl I had to go to Tom's to get the shortened shift rods. But I'd make the swap again in a heartbeat.

ok that makes me feel better. ok if the after market cleaners are a pain then i wontt bdo it. mine just looks heavly abused and it doesnt fit right so thats why i was wondering.thanks guys. now i was looking on a website for the floor shifters and i says ( with j shifter) or ( t shifter) for the transfer case. this may sound dumb but i dont know the difference, i have literely had this thing for a month.is the difference in the years or can i just look at them and tell.

"T" shifter for the transfer case mainly refers to the "handle" .... the shifting (T-handle) moves forward & backward only.

In '73 they were changed....the shift pattern follows the shape of a "J"

You likely have a "T" shifter. (THAT'S a GOOD THING.!)

However, I don't think this has anything to do with the floor-shifter for the trannie.

The "floor shifter" mounts on the transfer-case....if for some reason it matters..., just tell them your T-case shifter shifts forward & backward.

I withdrew my post. Just a repetition of a previous post.
