2nd Tranny Cooler

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience putting a 2nd transmission cooler on. Any good or bad thoughts / experiences? Will covering up the whole radiator with tranny coolers be wise?

If you do much towing, a better cooler than the stock will definitley help. If you don't have the stock auxillary cooler, all you have is the sides of the radiator. That's not very good at all. If you do have the aux, and want to add one, I wouldn't cover up anymore of the radiator and AC condenser, or you'll block their airflow. You can mount the new cooler on the frame up front, out of the way.

You could go with a E series cooler or an aftermarket heavy duty cooler. The E series HD cooler is approximately 11 inches wide by 8 tall by 1 deep and an aftermarket one is 14 x6 x 1. If you are replacing one, then mount it in the same place as the old one. I have been a fan of transmission coolers ever since I put one on, it makes a big difference in controlling the engine temperature. You might also consider a larger radiator, I have a 3 core A/C radiator with no A/C installed. If you already have the wider A/C radiator, check to see if they removed the plate that covers the gap on the right side that is used when a standard radiator is installed. Like Justshootme84 says, try not to block off too much of the other coolers. Fortunately I don't have that problem since I don't have A/C.
