I have a 1995 Ford Bronco XLT. my fuel pump recently went out on me. i dropped the tank and ran power to the pump and it works. after i put the tank back in the pump didnt work. it has very little pressure. just enough to let the truck start and run for about 5 seconds and then shuts off. i checked the relay and i have power, i check the inertia switch and i have power. but when i check the power wire at the pump there is no power. i then ran power from a fully charged battery straight to the pump and got nothing. what would you all suggest i do now? i am thinking of replacing the fuel pump and having my mechanic guy rewire the whole fuel pump new. thank you

I know the in-tank pump/sending unit assembly is expensive, but if it's intermittent on pumping with direct 12v power I'd go ahead and replace it if you have over 100K miles on the vehicle. The wiring diagram for your 95 may look Greek at first, but after careful checking, you might find a rubbed wire somewhere, too. You might find sme helpful info inthe Tech Articles forum. Look for my link t oMiesk5's Homepage, then follow it to the ignition and fuel systems. JSM84

When you say... "I got nothing"

do you mean, that the motor of the pump did not turn?

If so the motor is bad or the connection to it. Check the connection, and if clean, replace the pump!

IF you mean, the pump motor turned on, and you got no fuel pressure at the rail, then you may have a clogged fuel filter.

I think you mean the first, and so your proposed solution is the most logical one.

yea i put power directly to the pump and it didnt turn. i also checked my relays and inertia switch. i have all power just no turn of the pump. i have another question. can i by pass the inertia switch by splicing the wires together? cuz when i go offroading sometimes it pops and puts me in a bad place.

While it may be possible to bypass, the inertia switch is the best safety you have in an accident or rollover by turning off power to the fuel pump. There's nothing worse than being upside down, with fuel running out everywhere or on the ground, JSm84

Yeah... I fully agree!!! Not a good idea to try to get around such an important safety device.

Perhaps your's is a little more sensitive than it needs to be, and perhaps it is getting a little worn. They are not expensive, you may consider swapping it out with a new one and see if that helps.
