Try a forum search for performance mods and exhaust. Get your engine to breathe better. Get some all-terrain tires, like a size 31x10.50R15. Enjoy.

That about sums it up right there. If you're just gonna be doing mild-medium stuff then tires are really the only theing you need. You'd be surprised what a stocker can do.

I'd start with tires, hit a few trails and go from there. Depending how you go you may want to invest in a recovery kit, and maybe a gas/water can.

Welcome to the Zone! > (In case I haven't welcomed you yet)

You mentioned doing some mudding, tires are the first thing you want.

Next thing you should do is a complete tune-up to be sure the motor is ready for the abuse.

After that you should inspect *everything* i.e. Breaks (pads, shoes, lines and fluid), Springs, Leafs, Shocks, U-Joints, Axle Seals, Axle & Transfer Case Fluid levels and Transfer Case Vent hose.

I know this may seem like a lot but with 140K+ miles on the truck things could be wearing out or breaking. If you find any problems you should get them fixed first.

You don't want to break your first time out.

You may want to go out with a friend in another truck just in case you get stuck.

Also if he or she has been out before they can give you pointers on how to get through some obstacles.

Good Luck and don't forget to get some pics.
