1995 Bronco 5.0 engine dies when put in drive works in 1st and 2nd

Hello

I just bought a used 95 Bronco

It drove home fine

now when my son puts in drive it dies 1st and 2nd and reversre works drive will not

What should we look for

pick out the Symptom(s) such as;

Engagement Concerns

No Forward Only

Shift Concerns

No First Gear in Drive, Engages in a Higher Gear

Note that the first test for 215 — ELECTRICAL ROUTINE is Run On-Board Diagnostics;

This is also ref to as a DIY Self Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s

The engine temperature must be greater than 50° F for the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test and greater than 180° F for the Key On Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test.
Run it around to heat the engine up and shift thru all gears incl Reverse. Then turn off all accessories/lights, etc.

Make sure A/C is off and transmission is in Park (automatic) or in Neutral for a Manual & release clutch.

Do Key On Engine Off (KOEO) portion first.
