Looking at Buyin a 1992 XLT 5.8 with 115,000 miles on it. 31 INCH BFGs with about 20k miles. Drove it a few times, engine and transmission seemed OK. POwer seemed OK, but not great, I got it up to about 90 mph on the flat by flooring it for 20 seconds or so. Little Rust on Undercarriage, alignment was OK, electrical worked except for passenger window was straining pretty hard. Passenger door handle had to be muscled hard a few times to open. Hood took about 10 slams to shut. Spare Tire Mechanism was jammed and would not open, therefore couldn't get tailgate down. Back window came down slow but OK. A/C needs to recharged. "XLT" emblem missing off passenger side. No signs of leaks or repainting, but there are a few dents on passenger side, maybe a door was dented and popped out since there seems to be some issues on that side. Battery is Corroded but works. 4x4 felt like it worked (light came on) but I had a hard time telling.

SELLER WANTS $4200, I got about $3300 to offer. This would be my primary car. Travel about 10K miles a year. Any suggestions on what else to check out before buying would be helpful .Also what do I need to do after purchase to get this rig a little more juice and runnin strong if I buy it. I can proabably afford to put $800-1200 into it over the next few months. Any comments are appreciated...

For that price and mileage I feel it should be very clean. Take a look underneath & make sure there isn't any massive oil leaks. Make sure low 4x4 operates (u must be stoped & have ur foot on the brake & be in neutral to engage low 4). The miles seem to be low for that year (thats a plus). If the body & interior is clean I'd say 3500 sounds good! Make sure & point all the minor repairs it'll need. Then: GET HIM DOWN AS LOW AS POSS!!!!!!!!! Goodluck! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Possible...

Debating Bronco sale.....

I just purchased a 1990 XLT 5.0literBronco about 1 month ago. Love the vehichle, have put about $200 in it fixing minor things, $100 of it was for a part I thought was bad, but wasnt. It was with the idle air control. I am fixing the prob at a shop as we speak, and have put it on the computer. No probs except what they are fixing.... The truck has no body rust, 125,000miles, lady driven, 1 owner, practically new tires, excellant paint. It had a new $1800 transmission put in it little over a year ago, new fuel pump, and all the seals replaced ($1000), I have the receipts. Doesnt burn any oil...anyrate, i purchased it becaue I thought I wanted to get rid of my new truck, now I miss my new truck and dont want to get rid of it. It has minor things wrong with it, needs 1 new door lock regulator get one at a junk yard for $25?? Its all power, new window motors, needs an A/C tune up, has a new A/C condesor. 4 wheel drive works perfect. I also have a new sending unit for fuel gauge that needs to be installed. I seen where you was looking for one...thought you/someone might be interested. Not life and death to get rid of but would want back what I got in., time, parts, labor.etc..I paid $3100 and got a great deal, I feel its worth more. Honest guy here..look at the threads to see my issues with Bronc.....best offer..
