1990 Ford Bronco , 118000 miles, 5.8 L V8, 3-speed automatic trans

I just bought the vehicle. It ran well but was a little slow to turn over. I checked the battery cables and noticed the negative was cracked with wires exposed. These were replaced with new Duralast cables (4 gauge, 48 in for the negative and 4 gauge, 32 in for the positive). I used the Haynes manual protocols (i.e. remove the negative first) and the car started up much more quickly, however, several electronic components no longer function. These include the power door locks, headlights, interior lighting, and radio. Interestingly the power windows (side and rear), turn signals, break lights, gauges (speedometer and tachometer), and indicator lights work fine. I cant make sense of the manuals wiring schematics, can anyone offer some advice ? Thank You.

I would double check all fuses under dash. I'm guessing maybe ya left a ground wire off the battery terminal, not the heavy gauge cable you replaced but maybe a smaller gauge wire to ground your elec. accessories like you mentioned. Just my .02 :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

All the failing functions are things that are supposed to be hot at all times including when the key is off. I'd guess that you either missed a connection or more likely the fuse (Fuse S) in the engine compartment fuse box is blown.

Also, I would suggest that you check on ebay and see if anyone is selling a 1990 EVTM (Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual). In my openino, it is a must have document for someone who is maintaining their own truck. A set of Shop manuals wouldn't hurt either.

Good luck,

:)>-
