I found this 90' Bronco for a good price $1700 obo, but it needs some work... First and foremost the electric 4x4 will not engage... I was hoping someone could tell me what it will cost to have that fixed... Also the rear window will not roll down I think it may just be off the track, but could it be something else, and how much would it cost to fix??? It has some other cosmetic issues, but they can all be fixed... Any help with these matters will be appreciated... With these problems do you think it is still a good price??? The drive train is in good shape and seems to drive pretty good...

If it runs good and the frame isn't a basket case It is probably worth it. The hubs can be changed by you for the cost of a new set of manual hubs, about $80.00 for Warn Premiums. The rear window is probably the motor ot the gear that drives it. It could also be a connection but in either case not expensive to fix especially if you do it. If you can hear the motor running it is peobably the gear that drives the window regulator. If you can't hear it, worst case is the motor is bad. After you have it, someone on the forum can give you suggestions on trouble shooting it. That is a common Bronco problem. Like I said, if it runs good, jump on it. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

the easiest thing for the t-case is to swap it for a manual bw1356. the electric bw1356's always have problems. there could be a multitude of problems w/ yer rear window, bad switch(es) bad wiring, bad motor, bad safety switch. how many miles, what motor and tranny? 1700 doesn't sound too bad as long as it's in decent shape and runs good.

Dirt is correct about the t-case. It could also be a possible reason for not engaging, so to isolate it between hubs or t-case you need to engage the 4x4 an see if the front drive shaft turns and axles turn or not. If not that is a bit more expensive and depending on your mechanical skills, may be a job to take to a mechanic.

Good luck,

:)>-

The rear window problem is usually a bad switch, wiring problem to the motor, stripped motor gear or bad motor. All are fairly simple fiixxes, with a new motor costing under $100. The transfer case is what I would have checked by a mechanic. It may also be a simple switch, relay or wiring problem. BUt if it's a bad shift motor or internal damage, you're looking at $400-$500 for that repair. If that's the case and you still want hte Bronco, ask the seller to take off $500 for a non-working t-case. My $0.02

Thanks guy for your help... It needs work but I think it might be a good deal...

I do not think it is a t-case problem cause it is from the original owner and he rarely used the 4x4...

This Bronco has a 302 or 5.0 it has been rebuilt once and has about 70k on the rebuilt but about 220k on the truck...

Now with a little more info let me know what you think...

You can E-mail me cirect at:

Plum outa ideas, you need to check out some of the things suggested. Still sounds like a good deal and as Justshootme said get them to knock off a bit for the non-functioning 4x4. let us know what you come up with when checking things out.

Good luck,

sounds like a good deal to me mine is an 88 i only pd 1200 for mine it has some issues and bad rusting over rear tires gas gauge didnt work but im fixing that with all the replacement of my gas tank and all! When i got mine the tailgate was rusted bad and window was busted out so i just went to a salvage yard and got an eb edition with window and tailgate together for 100 bucks! works great now! They are worth the money i think i have a blast taking mine on the trails here or just making my own!

Just to add a little more to my first post. Two major points to consider on any vehicle are drivetrain and body. Since the major repair costs are in the engine and transmission, I would want them to be in working order. It can be a real nightmare to buy a rig for peanuts, only to have to spend thousands getting it running again. Telltale signs of trouble are fluid leaks and knocking or other strange noises. It's worth $50-$100 to have a reputable shop check everything out if you are'nt totally sure.

The other half is the body, and the better the condition the more it's worth to me. Repairing rust holes or replacing entire body panels can add up if the damage is throughout the rig and welding is needed. If the frame is covered in rust, there's usually some more in the fenders, floor, and cab areas. Like stated, parts like a fender or door can be replaced with used parts that are not too expensive. You just don't want to have to replace all of the panels and still fix the tub.

Last bit of advice is to use your "bargaining power" to get the lowest price you can!!!
