I bought an 1982 Bronco. It has a couple of major concerns I was hoping I could get help with. It is a 351

with manual transmission and 128000 miles on it.

First, to start it when you turn it over it fires for about 3 seconds and stops. Repeat that step three times and it starts fine. I noticed a duraspark II box under the hood that is not hooked up. What would cause the engine to stop firing and then start on the third turn of the key?

Second,

The bronco runs like a dream until it gets warm, usually 10-15 miles then I can not accellerate and can only throttle about 10% or it will bog down. It will not **** though, just cruise at a speed of 25mph! I inspected the fuel line and noticed coming from the tank there is a rusty old fuel filter before the electric fuel pump and a new fuel filter on the line under the hood right before the carb. There is no evidence of the former LP setup that it used to run in California. The fuel pump is working properly, I can hear it pumping when the key is in the on position before I start the truck. I have taken the top carb plate off and sprayed carb cleaner thouroughly, but it still has the same problem.

Any help would be extremely appreciated. Would like to get running good before gun deer season.

have you had the carb rebuilt yet or replaced. I am not sure if the heat of the engine is directly related to the fuel problem either. If you have followed the fuel lines from tank to carb and replaced the fuel filter for grins and are sure the fuel pump is working properly, I would look in to the carb.
