Hi Belair.., welcome..!!

Not sure you got it right. Maybe your tank isn't stock..?

I've not seen any tanks that have the fuel feed lines coming off/out the "rear" of the tank.

They come from the "front" of the tank.

STOCK.., the feed line ran to a switching valve under the dr. seat area.

This was true for the side (aux.) tank as well.

(I'm having trouble reading your discription.., all the words run together)

I think you'd be better served taking some pics of your tank, lines, filler tubes, etc.

Anything you're suspecious of & post here so we can better guide you.

It's really tough to guess as to your PO's modifications.

Beings it's not orig., a diagram isn't likely to help.

Help us help you.., post those pics. >:D< <'>

OK.., Ford never put a pass. side tank in these rigs soooo., you're correct in that this line is not needed.

It shouldn't be vented to atmosphere though & should be removed or pugged.

However, you got me at two feed lines coming from the front of the rear tank as I've not seen that either.

The factory sending unit is also that feed line leading to the pick-up tube inside the tank.

There would be no need to have a fuel line from tank to tank.

Do you think he had a transfer pump on that line to re-fill the main..?

Does this second line coming out of the rear tank sending unit look home made..?

(Meaning where it goes into the rear tank sending unit)

Some later year EB's had a few line/hoses for the smog issues depending on where they were sold.

But as I recall, they all came from the fuel filler tube area on the driver side.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check that..!!  Just looked at the LMC catalog. Apparently some yrs. had  emission vent

tubes exiting the sending unit cover along with the fuel feed line..!

There were no pictures.., just a call-out depending on the vehicle year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Curious/interesting what you have there.., but it doesn't sound dangerous or a problem

for operation.

Have fun out there..!!

Belair,

There was a canister of some sort under the front passenger side wheel well, bolted to the frame.  My 73 had one and I stripped it out.  If I remember correctly I tied the vent line and this one together and vented to atmosphere....  Let me know if you need the canister.  I think I still have it....  I will see if I have any pictures....

"There was a canister of some sort..."

Yep.., that was likely the "coffee can" or "bean can"  as they were called back in the day.

Full of charcoal. (Some mfgr's actually used tin cans for this purpose)

And the vent line did run up the dr. side frame, cross over to the pass. side, then up the frame

to the wheel well, & attach to this canister.

At the end of the day.., it's hard to tell/know what year tank is in any older EB rig. They get switched/replaced

over the years.., new & used.

NOTE: some year EB rigs had "vented" gas caps.., some did not, depending on the existance

of the these vent tubes.

Point being, a sealed up tank with a non-vented gas cap will draw a vacuum in the tank & stall the

fuel delivery/engine.

UPDATE: Looking at Wildhorses catalog, they mention the ('73 only) had a vent tube on the

sending unit as well as the fuel delivery tube.
