Hi,

I own a Bronco Sport 5.8 1996. I let it in a workshop to have some job done. The owner of the garage is now bankrupted. (So, the cheap always is too expensive)....

I have been able, after some legal work to have my truck back.

The problem that I face now is that I'm not able to open the hood. Apparently it is blocked between the primary and secondary catch. I don't find the way to access this area to unblock the system. I have the feeling that the lower catch (the one released by action on the cable from the cockpit) has been pushed down, an after that the hood closed

If anyone can help ?

Daniel

Yo Daniel,

Because this site gets antsy about posting too many inages, words, or commas, I will break this reply up.

Following from 96 Bronco-F-Series Workshop Manual (PARTIAL) @

Yo, part deux,

"Have one person open the latch from inside the rig.
Have someone else move the hood to the driverside as much as they can while pullling up." by Clark

"that happend to me in my bronco, i had to unbolt the hood latch through the grill so that it would open. " in a 96 by 96broncoman

"unbolt the hood latch through the grill" by Ben

removing the grill worked. I had suggested that to him earlier, but didn't know if it was possible for how little it was opened.

Yo,

Here's the hood latch stuck in. This causes the issue your having because it got latched while the hood was up, whether you were climbing in and out or it got bumped. It gives you no warning until the hood doesn't close completely THEN IT'S LOCKED.

Here is what it should look like before the hood is closed. You'll see that it's pulled out.

What I've done since I've had this issue, I've put a wire in the latch where I can reach in and pull it to release it instead of trying to wiggle a pick to pull it. I WILL NOT have this issue NO MORE.

Thanks to all from Switzerland !!!
