Ok so the bronco got left in Florida cause I believe the front drivers brake locked up. Popping sounds when applying brakes and then it began scream. No smoke, no fire, and was not glowing. I apparently missed a step when I rebuilt the brakes, grease. Would the lack of grease cause it to do this or did the caliper just fail? It made about 700 miles without grease.

It's hard to say with out actually looking at it.  The noise could be from the 4x4 hub locking mechanism.  It one or both don't completely unlock or lock, it will cause a popping noise as the splines rake by each other.  You need someone who is experienced with eyes/ears on the problem.  I'd suggest a mechanic shop that is experienced in 4x4.

I'll be heading back down next month to figure out what went wrong. I've got manual hubs if that means anything.......

Yo Justin,

As long as there is No pulling to one side, or excessive brake pedal effort to fully apply brakes, etc.;

rotor surface contamination.

wheel bearings not lubricated. Verify noise is coming from bearings.

caliper to wheel or rotor interference.

rotor to spindle interference.

Wasn't the brakes completely. I installed the pins upside down. The real problem was I didn't install the manual hub correctly. It took out my outter bearing, hub, and spindle. It's all repaired now.

Yo Justin,

It happens to many at the end of tbe job. My better-half became the Chief Inspector In Charge (CHIC) (oh yeah!) as I became distracted, forgetful or weary as time marched on.

Thanks for the update!
