So my 89 bronco 5.0 acted like it was running out of gas. I replaced all the fuel filter's. I replace fuel pressure regulator I have fuel I have spark but it still will not start. If I use starting fluid I can get it to fire up but then it dies. Any ideas feeling frustrated

Welcome to the Zone >:D< <'>

How do you know you have fuel being injected into the cylinders?  Because the fuel pump and regulator are good, doesn't mean the computer is allowing the injectors to fire.

Yo,

As Seabronc advised.

Try a Self Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s by my pal, BroncoJoe19

http://broncozone.com/topic/14269-code-reader/?pid=74587&mode=threaded

Some basics;

The engine temperature must be greater than 50° F for the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test

Make sure A/C is off and transmission is in Park (automatic); or in Neutral for a Manual & release clutch.

Then turn off engine, all accessories/lights (close driver's door) , etc.

Post any codes found.

Injector test..

Test; "...With eveything connected normally & the key in RUN, pierce the OTHER wire (not the Red one) on any ONE injector & tap it BRIEFLY to ground. Do you hear half the injectors click open & then closed? Put a finger on each one to feel which ones are working. If some of them don't open, repeat the test, holding the ground SLIGHTLY longer each time, but never more than 3 sec continuously...Repeat this for the 2nd bank of injectors (just one with a different color wire)..." by Steve

An '89 has two fuel pumps. A low pressure one in the tank, and a high pressure one on the driver's side frame rail about under his seat.

You might have fuel in the tank, but you need to measure the PRESSURE at the fuel rail on top of the engine.

If you don't have a pressure gauge, you can usually borrow one from a number of chain parts stores such as autozone, pep boys, or O'Reilys
