Hi all,

Big (6´7") Dutchy living in Colombia now (the country, not the ´American´ Columbia

Way back in 93 or 94 I had a ´82 Bronco where the previous owner replaced the engine with a spanking new 6,4l (or something) BigBlock.
Was in love with that matt black devil. Stripped of all luxury it took me everywhere and I did 115 Mph on the highway easily.

Over a year ago I bought a ´94 Bronco XLT 302 Automatic and it´s seen the mechanic about every week or other week.

Long story short: almost all sensors have been replaced, engine has been overhauled, automatic has been rebuilt all new, straightened, new pistons, valves, gaskets, 5x different spark plugs, 4x different cables, fuel pump, water pump, idle sensor, radiator, thermostat, distributor, and some cosmetics. (Think I´m forgetting a few things)

Last week (mid feb 2016) they told me my crankshaft damper was bad. Made a huge difference because, after setting the timing again, it runs smooth as silk.

But a problem that I have had since the beginning: The car is slow as.... anything.

Nobody seems to be able to help me and I´ve dropped so much money into the car that the bottom (of my money, not the car) is in sight...

Been strawling forum after forum and some good tips, some bad ones but to no avail!...

I´m here for that magic person that can lead me into the holy land of torque... (without changing the engine for now...)

Oh yeah: It did read 209.9 at the wheels and 473 lbs torque, which is spot on. Compression 170-175.

32" wheels, original differentials.

I´m lost...

(pics will follow)

Yo Dutchy,

Welcome!

Did the shop check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)?

Try a Self Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s by my pal, BroncoJoe19

http://broncozone.com/topic/14269-code-reader/?pid=74587&mode=threaded

Be sure A/C is off and transmission is in Park (automatic); or in Neutral for a Manual & release clutch.

Then turn off engine, all accessories/lights (close driver's door) , etc.

Do KOEO test First

Post Code(s) here according to:

KOEO

&

KOER

Hey cia,  Welcome

That 94 will never be a roadburner with that engine.  It is simply too heavy.

You mentioned your 82..."strippedof all luxury" and it had a big block.  Well more engine and less weight is the only way to be fast.

There isn't any secret for that  302 in a heavy truck to make it fast.

Sorry, but hope you have fun anyway.
