New to owning a bronco and mine has some decent leaks on the manual 3 speed as well and the dana 20. Talking to a guy on craigslist in Golden about possibly buying his AOD with dana 20 and AA adapter to swap mine out. Is that a solid automatic transmission in your guys opinion? After having a manual jeep for many years, I think I'd prefer an automatic this time and if it's a straight forward swap, minus shortening or lengthening the driveshafts, I'd like to consider it. Thanks

That appears to be a nice set-up.

However, it's a busy project, even for a seasoned mechanic.

Have you done this type of work B/4..?

there's approx. 16 things that need changing/added.

I've NOT done this.

Many times.., oil is coming from the engine & gets all over the trannie & transfer.

IMHO, I'd wash/clean the back of eng., trans, & transfer..,  & find the seepage.

It may be just loose bolts &/or covers.

That guy was like me.., I have no use for an auto trans for 4x4'n

(you're driving a stick.., you're ride'n in an automatic) --- ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Ill give it a good washing tomorrow and try to see where they are coming from. I thought having OD would be really nice but maybe you're right. This isn't a vehicle I bought to drive long distances anyway, it's weird though being in 3rd gear and only at like 25-30 mph lol.

"it's weird though being in 3rd gear and only at like 25-30 mph lol."

Mine is the same.., but then so is an automatic.

However.., I've run mine up to above 80 in that same gear..! (don't try this at home..!)

And I have 456's

Also.., you might check to see if you actually have 411's

When clean.., flip some talcum powder all around/under there. Drip lines are easier to spot that way.
