purchased in June, have no money left to get it on the road.  D'OH.  :)

was well worth the effort,  it is exactly what I had been looking for  over 2yrs now.

last 6 yrs in Indiana and before that it came from Arizona.  has a few bugs in it from lack of use, but is mostly original including paint.  has front leveling kit on 33" BFGs and I have no plans for it other than maybe take out the levelling kit and change it to 31s  ,  might put a ZF 5spd into it behind the 400 in the future.  paint job in 2 or 3 yrs.

pics of it the day I got it home, didn't even have the tow bar off yet.

it was exactly the paint colour and combo I was waiting for lost a green/white 79 from Texas in the fire we had back in march 2013.  lost a pile of old Fords and can't afford to rebuild my collection, but this model /colour was the one constant I was always looking and it finally came around. had a chance to but it back in may 2013 but it slipped through my fingers to sellers family member. he contacted me in May this year and I was definitely still interested.  its a good 10foot truck, body is very straight other than a dent in the bottom of both doors.  I wanted one that could be a driver for a while and a pristine resto down the road.  this was perfect for the job.  Wife will never drive it and she knows it.

I updated my signature.

You mentioned that you may take the leveling kit out. Do you know if leveling kits are period correct or if they were only introduced later to make room for larger tires? I am going back to the original wheels so don't need the clearance, and I want this to be somewhat period correct but not necessarily factory spec. In other words, did dealers put in leveling kits back in he late 90's?

I bought it assuming the repaint style is non factory since it does not have the white hood and windshield surround like yours. Am I correct to assume that my paint scheme did not exist from the factory? These might be questions for the broader forum but your truck and knowledge caught my attention.

Thanks

Yo n8LaF,

Welcome!

Leveling kits were aftermarket. Although there was the optional handling package, & heavy and light duty trailer tow packages.

See Specifications page for dimensions of Ground Clearance, etc. that can be used to determine previous users' modifications.

Build Sheet Location Synopsis; Locations vary because it depended upon who threw it in the Bronco on the production line vs. those who took time to place it same place for 18 years: "...under the driver's or passenger side carpet, in the fiberglass top hidden behind the rear trim piece, driver's side in a 79 by Ziggy; was under the rubber mat under the driver's seat in a 78 by Scoop; under my carpet on the right side in the back in a 92 by M. Cardholder; under the carpet directly behind the front passenger seat, Under the cardboard spacer sheet/heat shield in an 88 by Dustball; under the drivers side of your front seat between the seat springs and the cushion in an 86 F 150 by Hoxviii; underneath the carpet under the drivers seat and another in the back end underneath the carpet in an 88 by Xris; Ive found them in the back seat front seat Passenger floor Board and head liner. Gently feel your back seat for paper under the vinyl. Same with the back and then under the seats. Possibly under passenger carpeting rubber mat in a 78 by F1rocco; under my rear deck carpet and padding, taped to the bed in an 89 by Buckin' 89Bronco..."

Some info can be readily viewed on the build sheet, but I have not been able to oibtain a good Legend from Ford, and probably never will.

Build Sheet Information (Ford 999 Report); This was Ford's build sheet reply letter w/original build date, optional equipt., axle ratio, paint color, etc. FORD sent all data to Helms. Helms is Ford's Official Publisher for Ford EVTMs, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, etc. Miesk5 Note on 30 AUG 2011 called Ford @ 1-800-392-3673 & Jeff said all data was transferred to Helms

Helms charged $34.00 for the letter

Requests may take 2 to 4 weeks.

Item is shipped from manufacturer and may take additional time for delivery.

You must enter in the VIN number of the vehicle you want a build sheet.

https://www.shopfordgear.com/dept_prod.asp?dept_id=28

But as usual, the build sheet letter is off the site, probably due to an error, so call them.
