Hey gang,

Long story short my wife got a little crazy with the starter fluid, the engine compartment caught fire and ruined some wires. Never mind that, I was hoping you all would be able to tell me if I can order this portion of a wiring harness, or if I need to order the ones on JBG and other sites. The complete harness needs to be done but I can't swing it right now financially. So, I was hoping to buy just this portion, or find out if its possible to rebuild it.

The attached pics are with and without the old wires, I'm not sure what this section of the loom is called, but hopefully you all can tell me that.

Here's an imgur link to the pics if you need to get a closer look since the forum restricts the file size : http://imgur.com/a/lSPhA

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Red,

Sorry for your dilemma.  It is pretty easy and inexpensive to replace the fried wires.  Your rig is of the age that parts such as wiring is hard to come by and expensive when found.

You can take one wire at a time and replace it with the same gauge. I have soldered wires and covered with shrink tubing and they are good as new.

Just takes time. Then wrap the new harness you made or slip plastic tube protection over it.

Good Luck

Rons suggestion works well, I've done that very thing with mod additions & a few bad wires

on the various rigs I've had.

If memory serves, the wiring kits come in 2-3 sections.  One is the under hood section.

Seems I've seen offers to sell these at the EB stores.., Toms, Wildhorses, JBG, etc.

The only issue may be the plugs at the dash.., they may not match the orig. Ford plug.

The owner of Wildhorses had the same fire on his rig..., only worse. He may be able to

advise you as to your options.

Then there's EBAY & Craigs List.., there might be something there. Some folks likely

save the old harness' after installing a new one.

Lastly, you could contact Centec &/or Painless direct. They may be able to help you... [-o<

Thanks you guys, sorry for the delay in response. I'm going to start with Wild Horses and go from there. I'll post as soon as I've found a solution.
