Rear axle ratio

Trucks tag says it has 4.11 in the rear end, but it didn't feel anywhere near correct to me. I jacked up the back end. Marked the rear driveshaft and the tires, and counted revolutions on the drive shaft as I spun the wheels one rotation.

Guess what I got.... LIKE 2.1!!!! Anyone ever heard of anything like this? Why would you use something like this in a 302 with a C4....

Thoughts????

Sorry Bob for no response, but you were right AGAIN!!!  4:10's

Thinking about switching out to 456's.  Do you like yours?  Did you have 410's?

I know..., I hate it when that happens........ :lol:

My rig came to me with the 456's. The orig. 411's were in a box in the back.

The 456's keep the power curve happy in all three gears.

RPM's are a bit high on the freeway but these straight 6's can take a lot of RPM's (7 main bearings as I recall.)

Although, the Revs aren't much higher than 411's due to the 32's on the ground.

My other Broncos had various tire sizes with the 411's & they were V/8's.

I never felt lacking for power, no lugging, etc.

Short answer is.., YES I like the 456's.  This rig is as fast or faster than the 5 other rigs.

I climb hills in second gear & don't dare give full power.

Lots of fun hi-speed trailing. I can run 3rd gear lo range & it's like a one gear automatic meaning

I don't have to shift down in slow spots.  (I could go on-n-on..!)

However, I wouldn't advise to switch out from 411's unless tires were bigger than 32's.

I would say B/4 changing, try to find another Bronco with 456's that you could ride in & drive

a bit to feel the difference.

The ring & pinions aren't that expensive but the "tuning of the gears" is a bit tricky.

That could be expensive if you had someone else set the gears & do all the R&R.
