90 B2 2.9 M5OD 4x4, 2.9 is bad.  Running parts truck: 91 Ranger 4.0 M5OD 4x4.  Project hasn't started yet.  Is this swap "plug and play"?

plug and play ? Not exactly . but if you have the complete ranger then you have all the pieces needed to make it work. You probably will have to have a drive shaft made and fab or modify a trans cross member.

M5OD tranny in both rigs, doesn't appear to need tranny swap.  Plug-n-play referred to the big white plug on the drivers side firewall.  Intent is to remove all under the hood wiring from donor ranger, too include computer, clutch parts and transplant it in the B2.

that will not work. computer is different plugs are different, chances are the trannys are different bellhousing bolt pattern. I have seen it done, its a good bit of work, not too dificult work but work just the same.
