I have a 95 with 119,000 miles on it. When I accelerate I get a thump in the rear end, when I let off the gas I get a thump in the rear end. When I'm coming to a stop and get on the brakes I get a thump. I thought it was a rear diff issue because I had quite a bit of in and out axle movement, so I rebuilt the rear trac-lok diff, and still getting the thump. Everything in the Bronco's driveline seems tight, so I'm starting to wonder if it's something in the suspension, possible worn out leaf springs or bushings. I'm going out to the garage and putting jackstands under the frame, and letting the suspension go to full droop. Hopefully I can find something that's wrong, this is starting to get on my nerves. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

I wonder if the slip joint on your driveshaft needs to be lubed.

Hi doboys..., welcome.!

There could be complete axle shift (axle wrap) do to old springs.

This is common on the EB (66-77)

And yes.., this movement can have an affect on the dr. shaft.

I went through the suspension, and other than needing shocks everything appears to be ok. I decided to pull the drive shaft, after about a half a can of PB Blast, breaking out the torch, a big breaker bar and a few choice words the drive shaft came out. The slip joint was definitely dry. I greased it up real good, put the boot back in place and reinstalled the drive shaft. I have no more thumps, clunks or any other weird things going on back there. Thanks to nelbur for his expert advice, the slip joint was definitely the problem.
