hello all.

I am starting out with a 87 ford bronco efi 302 "Non-Roller" /aod auto trans. the engine was very tired and so I pulled it to have it rebuild and found that it had a cracked block.

I then found a 302 efi "Roller" from a 93 ford bronco which I have rebuilt and am about to install. I did get the engine wiring harness from the 93 bronco however  the plugs will not fit so I will have to splice the to harness's together. My question is should I get a new dizzy for a 87 bronco or should I wire up the dissy that came with the 93 bronco? Since I am going from no roller to roller engine do I need to rewire the fuel injectors differently or is there any thing else I need to do to get it to run in my 87?

Thanks

yo Jr,

WELCOME!

For now;

The 93 5.0 Firing Order is same as the 87 5.0; so that is good!

fyi; Spark Plug Wire Routing & Firing Order TSB 94-04-10 for 87-93 5.0

The firing order for 1987-1993 5.0Ls is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. If #7 and #8, or #2 and #4 spark plug wires are routed next to each other at the separation bracket, an induction crossfire condition can occur.

Both engines are Speed Density, thus Injector firing is same.

Confirm this with others here for the swap you are doing

The belt wraps the pulley opposite the crank pulley... " by Ryan M

Confirm this with others here for reverse swap such as what you are doing;

"... if you pulled a roller motor from your truck, and put in a non roller motor, make absolutely sure your using the correct distributor gear. Doing this swap, and swapping in your distributor from a roller cam to a non roller cam is asking for a motor meltdown. Steel against iron is not good..."

Which plugs will not fit?

Thank you. I was planning on using the dizzy that came with the 93 motor since it will have a steel gear for the roller cam. Also this dizzy is setup for the remote tfi so I will need to rewire for that I am thinking.

also the 87 was a serpentine belt setup so the 93 will be the same thing/way correct?

The alternator I just found out today will need to be change since the 93 wiring harness is set up for a 3g alternator.

so if I am understanding correctly the firing order from the 87 302 non roller and the 93 302 "roller" are the same and the fuel injector wiring will be wired up the same as well?

Thank you for all the help.

I believe they are same; see Belt Routing in a 93 5.0 & 5.8

"Flat-spring (enclosed) style tensioners incorporate a belt length indicator on the edge of the spring housing. Coil-spring (exposed) tensioners used on '93-up 5.0L, 5.8L, & 7.3L have no such indicator.
