Hello all,

I have a bad PCM, its fried.  I have the F4TF-12A650-SB  PCM, however I am wondering if the 12650-SA is interchangable. I've been told the SB, SA, & SC are all interchangable for the 5.8 engines with E4OD Trans.

True or what?

Thanx  guys!

yo Popeye,

I have no definitive answer for you right now, but you'll need more info in order to ask a supplier (of mostly re-man PCMs) if those are interchangeable;

What is the calibration code?

the Calibration number (posted on driver B pillar door jamb

Calibration number is just, as if not more important than the PN. Almost all Ford PCMs have a base PN of 12A650 & 94's will have the F4TF prefix

With the number, yards that use Hollander Interchange data base can located the correct unit for you.

yo,

I see that the http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi

results group, SA, SB & SC together for 94 w/E4OD and 5.8

Difference is most Likely are; one is Federal Emissions, one is California Emissions and one is probably for MAF with sequential electronic fuel injection (SEFI)

or

Speed Density; depending upon Build date; Guessing changeover to MAF was April 94 Build Date.

Thanx againa for your reply.

So would you say its safe to use the SA  in lieu of the SB?

Thanx again.

yo,

That would be a guess on my part, sorry. I doubt that anything will be damaged though; worse case is some driveability issue(s) and/or Check Engine light.
