Ok, so I had true dual exhaust put on my 93 Bronco (351) a few years ago. Now I live in Arizona and have to pass an emissions test...ugh! While my truck passed the emission test, it failed the visual inspection because it didn't have the cats on it....so I put the OEM exhaust back on it and it passed just fine. Now I want to put the dual exhaust back on, but add cats for the next time I have to get an emissions test. Will two separate cats work? and will they fit? The straight pipes ran side by side down the undercarriage until they get to the mufflers (magna-flows) and then split off to exhaust off the side of the truck. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

yo,

Check w/your MVC on this esp. the visual inspection process; they may Not let you pass with the duals even though you add cats.

Dustin shows the Blue Hi Temp Silicone Air Inlet Tubing pic.

Dustin wrote in a defunct site, "...Bassani overheating transmission??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I finally figured out why I blew a front seal out of my trans the last wheeling trip. The trail was nothing the my broncos used to seeing. It also happened fairly quickly after starting the trail. I was baffled up until the other day when I was under the rig. i could not figure out why it decided to pop the seal on a relatively new trans, never ever had an overheat problem even in 115 summer weather in the desert. the kicker is this was the first hard run I had been on since putting the bassani y-pipe and cat on. Basically once hot and under a load like trying to climb a rock the front seal would **** trans fluid everywhere, but normal driving its fine just a drop here and there. Just has issues when heat and pressure build up.

The damn cooler lines run way too close to the-pipe for my liking. I think this is causing my issue.

They are not touching like the picture suggests.

I know aftermarket stuff has issues but damn someone like bassani you would think would have done their homework. It just irritates me that I have issue offroad, I hate having to wrench on my rig when wheeling over something stupid. Not to mention this causes me lots of hours in labor just to pull the trans down and replace the seal, not to mention the time trying to figure out how to repair the issue. I have an external trans cooler(factory). And I was not hammering on the engine. It was slow crawling so very little air flow, under heavy load(wedged between rocks). It was an overcast day and not all that hot. I have no doubt it got hot and puked and I am pretty sure these lines caused it. Like I said no problem before now there is a problem after exhuast..."

Swap, 2 to 1 Advice "t is illegal to replace or modify emmisions control equipment with other-than-stock equipment. But the pre-cats are only there to reduce emmissions until the main cat gets warmed up. So yes, you can go to one cat and you might even burn cleaner with a aftermarket high-flow cat. But you will run the risk of not passing visual inspection."
