Hello,

I have a 1987 Full Size  Bronco. It has automatic hubs. There are 2 buttons on the dash. 1. 4x4. 2. Low Range. Does the Bronco have to be in motion to activate 4x4? I have no idea how to operate the 4x4 on my Bronco. The only time I tried was when all 4 were up on jack stands,  I pushed the 4x4 button. The front rotors locked. I found a You Tube Video to tell me how to unlock them. I have a 4x4 but I don't know how to use it! HELP!!

The Bronco 4x4 is a part time 4x4 and is not intended to normally run on dry pavement.  If you are in mud and or snow it is good at helping you maintain control.  I always have mine engaged when there is snow cover on the roads except for highway driving.  The mileage decreases with 4x4 and it is noisy. Driving on dry surfaces could damage the transfer case as well as the front end.  You can engage it while moving but should not do that above 35 MPH.  Turning with it engaged needs to be done gently.  You can not make as sharp a turn as when in 2 wheel drive.

low range should only be engaged when stopped.

Good luck,

:)>-
