Hello everyone, I'm currently still in the process of my 351w a topic that has come up is to change from stock pistons to flat top pistons. What is the pros and cons to this if any. I'm still new to motor interior and don't want to spend the extra money if it's not worth it. Thanks guys.

Are you sure Bob?

I thought Flat tops would raise the Compression Ratio. The only way a flat top would lower the CR is if the current pistons MudCountry86 are a "dome" piston.

No, I'm not sure...

I assume later modern engines all had domed pistons of some sort.., with a recess for valve clearance.

Flat tops are old school & work fine.

"...a flat top would lower the CR if the current pistons are a "dome" piston."

This is correct.
