I have a problen for the electrical gurus on this site. I'll try to keep it simple. I purchased my bronco a couple years ago after totaling my '89. It came with a 5.0, E4OD, BW1356, 8.8 with 3.50 gears and a 4" lift. Because the engine ran poorly I swapped in the power plant from the '89, a 5.0 bored.040 flat top pistons and a Crane cam. I used the '89 engine harness and after moving a couple wires around drove it daily till the oil pump failed destroying the bearings. I drove a '94 F150 for almost a year before the

E4OD trans puked fluid all over the highway on way to work one morning. It had a 5.8 engine so I pulled it, replaced some gaskets and installed it in the '91. I couldn't get the engine harness on the '94 to work so I replaced it with a '90 harness. I went from componet to EEC and traced and checked every wire. 2 wires are not used, power steering sensor, knock sensor. One wire remains and has me puzzled. Blue wire with yellow stripe on the '91 chassis harness. I can't figure out why or where this wire goes to on the engine.

With that said I tried to start it. It cranks over but won't start. Rechecked the sparkplug wire connections, checked for spark at #1 cyl, set timing to 10 btc while cranking with spout connector removed. Checked fuel pressure and have 38psi steady. Aquick shot of starting fluid into intake made it run breifly. I pulled the connector from the #5 cylinder and used a test light to determine there was power to the injector. Test light across the connector showed no pulsing or any light  for that matter. I swapped back in my 5.0 EEC and the condition stil exists. I have a good connection from pin 20 on EEC to ground.

As it sits right now my '91 silver anniversary bronco has a 5.8 (not running), ZF 5 speed, NP 205 with twin stick shifter, 10.25 rear with yukon zip locker and D 50 TTB front. I custom built the front and rear bumpers to store air from the Broncoair compressor with quick connects for air and winch on both bumpers.

yo FourX,

WELCOME!

Try a Self Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s by my pal, BroncoJoe19

http://broncozone.com/topic/14269-code-reader/?&pid=74587&mode=threaded

I don't see any component wiring issues using a 5.0 EEC w/ 5.8 engine, but there is one with using diff year harnesses.

Right now I can't Copy & paste in this Forum because I "upgraded" WIN 8 to 8.1 yesterday.  I asked ADMIN to look into it and see that many other 8.1 users are having same issue.

So, at the top of this reply you'll see the EEC IV Pin LEGEND URLs by Ryan M; look at Pin 8 (Fuel Pump - FPM) - have you tested this yet?

and Pin 9 is Data Bus Negative in non MAF (Speed Density) or MASS AIR equipped (MAF) Broncos

Blue Wire with Yellow Stripe - I'll try & look at this next.

Hey Fourx,

Welcome.

My diagrams for a 91 show a light blue /yellow strp from pin 30 on the EEC to starting system...or starting and charging depending on the source of the harness.

I may not have read your post correctly, so what is the source of the harness you are currently having an issue with?

good Luck

The engine harness is '90 F250, the engine is '94, the Bronco and chassis wiring is '91.

As for the no start, problem solved. Turns out the problem was because the PIP signal from dizzy was not making it to the EEC. I had the PIP wire and the Ign ground switched around. It fired up and I let it idle for about minuet or 2 while I reset the timing on distributor.
