Greetings Bronco world

I'm attempting a drum-to-disc front brake conversion on my 1973 Bronco.  The kit comes with all the necessary components, including Booster and Proportional valve.  What the kit doesn't come with is instructions....

I like to think I'm mechanically inclined, and I have almost every tool known to mankind, so if anyone out there knows where I can find some kind of step-by-step I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi Graham.., welcome..!

I'm sure there's some S by S  pages out there on line.

It's kinda "custom" so one would have to be mechanically inclined. Booster & prop. valve will req. fluid line mods if you didn't have these items originally.

All in all.., it should be a "two banana" job..., taking maybe 1-2 days.

I also had never done a front axle R&R.  I freshened mine up on both sides & found it quite easy.

(you might want to pull the axles & check the U-joints & clean things up while in to it that far.)

Once stripped down as you see below.., put the disc backing plate where the drum backing plate

came off. Re-assemble in reverse order of removal.

BTW.., noticed you said Dana 3 (meaning Dana 30..?)

Your 73 should have a Dana 44 under it.

AND.., while you're in there, check/test the "ball joints" ..!   Don't wanna have to go back & do this

all over again in a few months. You can do this now by jacking the wheel off the ground, grab

the tire top-n-bottom & try to wiggle up-n-down. If it moves.., have someone watch the joints to

confirm they move.  (meaning it is in fact, the joints, not the wheel bearings.)
